Chester Soong is currently the Managing Director of Security Consulting Services Ltd. He started his own ISP outfit back in 1994, and was working for Citibank N/A as Project Officer before that. Chester graduated from California State University, Fullerton with double majors in Information Systems and Finance. He gained interests in the study of law, in particular privacy laws, and obtained his LL.M in IT&IP Law from the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. He further completed the summer course from University of Amsterdam Faculty of Law on Privacy Law and Policy earlier this year.
Chester is a frequent speaker at various regional conferences and seminars on the topics of IT development and information security. He was formerly the Director of Certification Services of (ISC)2 for the Asia Pacific region, and the first to pass the CISSP exam back in 1997 from the Asia region.
He is a technical advisor (Information Technology and Communications) to the Employees Retraining Board of HKSAR Government, Chairman for the Internet Society (Hong Kong Chapter), and council member of Information Security and Forensics Society. He is also a lecturer of the Post Graduate Diploma program on IT Forensics of HKU SPACE on e-Business related legislations and cyber-crime management.
